A contract phone is a handset that comes with a monthly rental agreement. Each month, you pay an agreed fee, and in return you receive an agreed upon amount of call minutes, texts and data. The monthly fee also covers the cost of the handset, which means you can pay for your new device on finance as part of your phone contract, and at the end of the contract you will own the phone.
This depends on your current position. If you have an existing contract that isn’t close to ending, a SIM free device is the best way to get a new phone without buying out your contract for a set amount. However, if your current contract is almost up, then we’d suggest either upgrading with your current network or opting for a new contract altogether.
Mobile phone plans are constantly changing and updating, so the best way to find out what works for you is to browse the deals available on our website. Just click on the handset you’re interested in and take a look at the deals on each network. You can filter by new contracts and upgrade contracts to see the best prices for your budget.
If you decide to take out a new monthly contract, your chosen network will carry out a credit check. However, if you upgrade instead, there won’t be a credit check, as one will have been carried out previously.
Our mobile phone contracts are all 24-month agreements. After this time, your plan will continue as a rolling contract, month-by-month, until you upgrade or cancel the contract to move to a new network.
